Innocent Darkness by Suzanne Lazear READ-ALONG Information

In honour of Charmed Vengeance releasing in about six weeks(August 8th 2013)! Suzanne Lazear is hosting a read-along of INNOCENT DARKNESS! Who's excited?! :D

So what’s a read-along, you ask?

Well here's what Ms Lazear has to say: A read-along gives you a chance to re-read (or read for the first time) a book before the sequel comes out. It also gives you a chance to discuss it with other people, chat with me, learn strange facts and behind the scenes things, and win prizes.

Every week, starting JULY 1st, we’ll read a certain number of chapters. I’ll post the week’s chapter “assignments” on Mondays. I’ll even read some of my favorite parts out loud for you. There will be a place for you to comment and chat, on my blog (where you can win prizes). There will also be twitter chats on Fridays at 1 pm PST/4 pm EST #IDreadalong where you can ask me questions, talk about it, and win more prizes. Feel free to use #IDreadalong to chat about it during the week, too!

You don't have to have read the book before, in fact, if you haven't read INNOCENT DARKNESS yet, but have been meaning to, this is the perfect chance. We only read 7-8 chapters a week, so it won't be too overwhelming.

You don’t need to register, however, people who do register, and participate, will be eligible to win Special Prizes– signed and annotated copies of both INNOCENT DARKNESS and CHARMED VENGEANCE, and a CHARMED VENEANCE Sleepover/Bookclub kit! (A signed copy of Charmed Vengeance, goodies, swag, and treats for five of your friends, including mini-top hats!).

Here is the schedule for the read-along:

July 1-7th: Prologue-Chapter Six
July 5th : Twitter Chat 1 pm PST/4 pm EST #IDreadalong
July 8-14: Chapter Seven-Thirteen
July 12: Twitter Chat 1 pm PST/4 pm EST #IDreadalong
July 15-21: Chapter Fourteen-Twenty
July 19th: Twitter Chat 1 pm PST/4 pm EST #IDreadalong

About the Author

Cherie Colyer writes young adult and middle grade novels. She loves finding new stories that keep her up late reading. While her favorite genre is realistic paranormal/fantasy, if the book is beautifully written with characters that come alive she’s all over it.

Review: Dare You To (Pushing the Limits #2) by Katie McGarry

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits #2) by Katie McGarry

Goodreads Blurb:

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all...

5 Stars!

Okay so I'm sure those who have read Katie's books have already figured out that she's an amazing author. Not only is she sweet and kind but she's a fantastic storyteller!

As I was reading this novel, It seemed that in almost every chapter I had tears in my eyes. Not because the story was so sad and devastating. But because the story showed so much emotion like an old friend coming up to me and telling me a magnificent love story of how they came to be.

The story shows a teenager by the name of Elisabeth 'Beth' Risk, who is trying to show the world an image of a strong and brave girl but underneath the surface, she's suffering to find a balance and happiness in her life after the hand she's been dealt with. But her life takes a drastic turn when her uncle comes out of nowhere and takes her away from everything she has ever known.

Ryan Stone is the type of guy you know. He's that guy who's popular, who is super hot and is obsess with sport. But he is also sweet, generous and kind. His keeping up an image of himself as the cool guy without a care in the world. But it's a lie, his family is barely hanging on and he's not sure what to do about it.

But as these two meet and get closer and closer to knowing each other. It gets tougher to keep the secrets at bay. They learn that all they need is to trust each other and be themselves. Ryan learns not to care about what others think and follows what he thinks is best for him, while Beth learns to take a chance and learn to trust again and finds that there are people out there who truly cares about her and that she doesn't need to handle the situation alone.

I pretty much devoured this novel in less than one day. It had all the right romance, hilariousness, drama and the right message to deliver one amazing storyline.

I have become a big fan of Katie's work and can't wait for book 3 and find out what else she has in store for us! :)

Review: Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy #2) by Wendy Higgins

Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy #2) by Wendy Higgins

Goodreads Blurb:

Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

5 Stars!

Okay, so I fell in love with the first book just like everyone else out there. And when I found out there was a book 2, I had big BIG expectations for this one. And let me tell you, this book totally met that expectation and more!

It had everything that I fell in love with in the first novel but with so much more drama, humor, romance and that Wendy Higgins touch.

This time our favourite leading lady Anna isn't just roaming the United States, she's going around the world to gather some more friends. ;)

I love how Wendy doesn't just continue the novel from book 1, but that, she also adds a whole new unique adventure that we never expected. Wendy also adds that suspense and drama hat makes the novel much more interesting and captivating.

Even though we didn't really get more Kai action than I hope too, we got to know Kope a whole lot more. We got to see what a kind, caring and a truly great guy he is. His the type you know will always be there for you and will always have your back no matter what. But when Anna and Kaidan finally do get together or even have those little moments, it's like a mega explosion you knew was gonna happen, but when it does, your still left thinking..."whoa how the heck did that happen?!" And everytime that happens, it reminds me why I am on #TEAMKAIDAN! Talk about a major Swoon!!!

As the group makes new alliances and enters on a whole new journey, with that heartfelt ending, I feel like it's all leading to one big explosive ending in book 3 for which I'm super excited that Anna and Kai are going to be there for each other.  I mean how could you not be! :)

So if you lovely readers out there, loved book 1? You won't be disappointed in book 2!
:)

New Adult Review: Eversea (Eversea #1) by Natasha Boyd

Eversea (Eversea #1) by Natasha Boyd.

Goodreads Blurb:

Eversea, a love story, is a Winter Rose Contest FINALIST 2013. Emilia Pisani of Simon & Schuster (judge) says "Great southern flavor!" and "Jack is an alluring leading man!"

An orphaned, small-town, southern girl, held hostage by responsibility and self-doubt.

A Hollywood A-list mega-star, on the run from his latest scandal and with everything to lose.

A chance encounter that leads to an unlikely arrangement and epic love affair that will change them both forever.

When his co-star and real-life girlfriend is caught cheating on him with her married and much older director, A-list hottie, Jack Eversea, finds himself in sleepy Butler Cove, South Carolina. Jack hopes the sultry southern heat in this tiny coastal Low country town will hide him not only from the tabloids and his cheating girlfriend, but his increasingly vapid life and the people who run it. He doesn’t count on meeting Keri Ann Butler.

Keri Ann has relied on herself so long, dealing with her family’s death and the responsibilities of keeping up her family's historic mansion, that boys and certainly the meager offering of eligible boys in Butler Cove, have never figured into her equation. But fate has other plans. Suddenly face to face with the man who played the movie role of her favorite fictional character, Jack has Keri Ann yearning for everything she has previously avoided ... and Jack must decide whether this funny, sassy girl is worth changing his life for, before his mistakes catch up to him.

I was pretty excited to read this book. I found myself intrigued by the synopsis. But once I started reading, the story developed pretty slowly for me and I found myself thinking it to be a bit cliche.

But once Keri Ann and Jack keep finding themselves thrown together as they spend more and more time getting to know one another, I found myself unable to stop reading even to go get food and soon I became kind of addicted. It's not your typical 'normal girl meets boy who turns out to be a celebrity' cliche that I thought it was. I became intrigued by Natasha's writing and storytelling. The novel shares an emotional connection to readers as these two characters find themselves thrown together by fate maybe? and are trying to find a place for them to belong and be themselves in. I like how the author surprises us and tries to make it a more normal story and not over the top and chaotic you would expect to find in celebrity type books.

Keri Ann's this really sweet girl whose trynna live her life and keep everyone she cares about happy. I like how she stays herself around Jack and is handling the situation pretty calmly considering there's a very HOT celebrity in her face LOL, but her reaction around jack are pretty funny and is something I can totally imagine when meeting a celebrity...a hot one at that, hehe.

Jack Eversea is this totally normal guy, with normal problems who just so happens to be a big deal in hollywood and pretty much around the world. He's such a sweetheart and is just a guy trynna find his real self after being always told who he is and how to act. He's been dealt with a bad hand and I love how after everything he's been through, he still has his manners and all that intact and treats Keri Ann really sweetly. Oh and did I mention he rides a motorbike?...a ducati? talk about swooooon! It kinda makes me wish he was real...

Their text messages are also sooo hilarious and sweet! Especially the autocorrect ;) Which you'll have to find out yourselves. ;-)
Oh and did I mention how awesome the cover is? It totally showcases the emotion of this story.

And after that ending, I'm so excited for book 2! I can't wait to see what else Natasha has in store for us.

This novel had all the romance, emotional rollercoaster, supporting characters and funny moments you expected and so much more. I totally recommend it to anyone who is into these kind of stories :) There are scenes for mature audiences too so yes it is an NA genre.

*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest opinion/review*
