by Lisa Voisin

Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her. Can he face her without falling again?
Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them. When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook. In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both? Ancient history is only the beginning.

  Excerpt

Instead of saying more, he brushed his fingertips along my cheek, and his halo glimmered. I could hear the waves slapping the rocks behind us, the wind driving them in. That same wind whipped against my skin, but the touch of his hand on my face was all I could think about. It sent a current through both of us and filled me with longing for something I wasn’t sure I understood. “I’m sorry.” He stepped back and shoved his hands into his pockets as the light around him faded. “You don’t know what it’s like. Being near you now, remembering those moments we had…” His hair blew into his eyes, but this time he didn’t move. I wanted to brush it back, but I didn’t know how he’d react. Would touching him be bad? “You want to know who you were?” he asked. “You may look different, but you’re the same. I look into your eyes and see you.” He took in a deep breath, fixing his attention on the horizon. I’d seen and heard so much now that the logical part of my brain had long since given up arguing with me. I could feel what he was saying was true. All of it.

Cover Reveal - SEEKING HER by Cora Carmack

A Finding it Novella
by Cora Carmack

Description

A few months after being honorably discharged from the military, Jackson Hunt is still struggling to adjust back to the real world. He needs to get a job and find a sense of normalcy if he’s going to keep his own demons at bay. The job that falls into his lap, though, is anything but normal.

Bodyguard (and baby-sitter) to spoiled-rich-girl Kelsey Summers isn’t exactly what he’d been looking for, but it’s a chance to travel, to get away from the home that has felt stifling ever since his return. It would be a pretty sweet gig if it weren’t for the fact that Kelsey’s father doesn’t want Kelsey to know she’s being followed. Hunt feels guilty (and a little bit creepy) as he watches her from afar. She’s vibrant and infuriating, exciting and reckless, mysterious and familiar. When he sees her falling into the same patterns that he suffered years ago, he decides it’s time to stop watching and help her instead. But getting to know her is more difficult than he thought, especially because the more he knows her,the more he wants her.

Can the boy who broke your heart ever win it back again..?

Sneak Peek Excerpt

Julia trailed behind her boss as she walked over to the cash register, looking left and right to catch a glimpse of her other colleagues.
“Kolbe!” her brand-new boss shouted toward the entrance. “Come and help me out, will you?”
Julia stopped dead, frozen in her tracks. Was she going deaf, or had Martin just said… Her heart hammered ridiculously fast as her eyes zoomed in on the front door.
“He’ll come and help you at the register.” Martin’s voice sounded as though it was coming from far away. He left her standing there, rooted to the spot.
Julia tried to snap out of her paralysis and stumbled the final few steps to the counter. Her breath hitched when she saw an all-too-familiar figure walking in her direction. She swallowed. But surely it couldn’t be. Oh God, no. No, no, no. This was not happening.
And then, she couldn’t look anywhere else but up, straight into two eyes green as the forest.

“What on earth are you doing here?” Julia stared at him in alarm.
“I work here,” he replied unfazed, a half-smile tugging at his lips.
“Since when?” It was simply not possible that she, in her unfailing stalker mode, had somehow missed this: Michael holding a job at the same bookstore she’d applied to two days ago.
“Since last week.”
His smug composure quickly turned her initial befuddlement into outright infuriation.
“Why?” she demanded fractiously.
He raised an eyebrow. “To earn some extra cash?” he declared in an ‘isn’t-that-really-obvious’ tone.
“But why here?”
Michael started to chuckle. “Why are you giving me the third degree?”
“Are you following me or something?” she grumbled, her heart treacherously leaping in her chest for a moment as she considered the possibility.
“Well, I’m sorry to burst your bubble here, but I think it’s the other way around. First, you turn up at the pub I always hang out at on weeknights, then, you decide to take a jog near the place where I almost had a fatal accident, and now you turn out to have applied for a job at the same store I’ve been working at for the past week. What does it look like to you?”
Shucks, he was right. Julia resisted the urge to stamp her foot like a little girl. “In your dreams, you arrogant bastard,” she muttered. “Everybody says I should stay away from you.”
In the silence that followed, she could still hear her heart beating in her throat.

YA Review - The Sound by Sarah Alderson

The Sound by Sarah Alderson

The Sound

Goodreads Blurb

When aspiring music journalist Ren Kingston takes a job nannying for a wealthy family on the exclusive island of Nantucket, playground for Boston's elite, she's hoping for a low-key summer reading books and blogging about bands. Boys are firmly off the agenda.

What she doesn't count on is falling in with a bunch of party-loving private school kids who are hiding some dark secrets, falling (possibly) in love with the local bad boy, and falling out with a dangerous serial killer...

The gripping new stand-alone novel from the author of Hunting Lila.

Loved it! I was a bit skeptical when I first started reading it. I'm not a real big fan of thrillers, which is what I thought the novel was going to be about when I read the prologue. But as I kept reading it, it kept getting more interesting and intriguing that I just couldn't put it down.

The characters are charming, different and relate-able to what you'd expect them to be, but with their own personality and quirks.

Our main girl, Ren, is down to earth, funny, lovable and sarcastic. But she also shows her soft side and she'll stick up for the people she cares about.

Jesse Miller, is not your typical guy. With everyone thinking his some sort of a psycho murderous guy, it's kind of a contradiction when we're meeting him in the eyes of Ren. His nothing like what everyone says he is. He's sweet, charming, flirty, protective, plays the guitar and is just insanely HOT! I also love how each meeting Ren has with Jesse, we get a chance to know him some more, which is why I fell for him more and more each time, that I kept looking forward to his scenes. Which just adds to the novels mystery about what is really going on in the small town.

And of course add in the fact that there is a serial killer on the loose, someone I never predicted and just added to my surprise (the good kind. Not that the serial killer is good, but you know what I mean ;)) With so many surprises in the novel, I feel like Sarah didn't really explain why the serial killer started killing all those nannies, that much. I feel like she should have elaborated some more on that.

But all in all, this novel has got it all: romance, hilarious moments, suspense, mystery, surprises, drama and Sarah Alderson's trademark all rolled in one. If you haven't read it yet, than what are you waiting for?! It's a stand alone novel that will keep you up all night till you've read every last page. Yes it's that addictive! You've been warned ;-)

Excerpt

I hear the water from the shower shut off, and seconds later a loud bang vibrates through the wall. I jump up from the chair, letting the remote control hit the floor as I rush toward the bathroom. The edge of the coffee table clips the shit outta my shin as I pass.
I swing open the bathroom door. “What happened?”
Camryn shakes her head at me and smiles as she leans over to pick the hair dryer up from the floor beside the toilet.
I breathe a sigh of relief.
“You’re more paranoid than I am,” she laughs.
She glances down at my leg as I rub it with my fingertips. She sets the hair dryer back on the counter, comes up to me, and kisses the side of my mouth. “Looks like I’m not the one of us who needs to worry about being accident-prone.” She smiles.
My hands cup her shoulders and I pull her closer, letting one hand fall down to touch her little rounded belly. I can barely tell she’s pregnant. At four months I thought she’d at least be emulating a baby hippo, but what do I know about this stuff?
“Maybe so,” I say, trying to hide the red in my face. “You probably did that on purpose just to see how fast I could get in here.”
She kisses the other side of my mouth and then goes in for the kill, kissing me fully and deeply while pressing her wet, naked body against mine. I moan against her mouth, wrapping my arms around her.
But then I pull away before I fall into her devious trap. “Dammit, woman, you’ve gotta stop that.”
She grins back at me. “You really want me to stop?” she asks with that up-to-no-good smile of hers.
It scares the shit out of me when she does that. Once after a conversation laced with that smile, she stopped having sex with me for three whole days. Worst three days of my life.

NA Review - Fighting by Cat Phoenix

Fighting by Cat Phoenix

Fighting

Goodreads Blurb

New Adult Romance

Alex is an independent twenty one year old college drop out and reformed thief when she meets Brooks. He wants her to join his team of thieves who fight to avenge the innocent, the wronged. Skeptical, she thinks he's cracked and needs to be taken back to the mental facility he'd broken out of.

Eventually, just for kicks and giggles, she lets Brooks convince her to take a chance on him. Her world is flipped upside down as she identifies with and comes to care for her new crew, except for the one man she loathes: Ethan. God, what an arrogant bastard.

As Alex changes, so do her feelings for Ethan. Alex fights more than just her attraction to Ethan as they are bound together in a fight to survive.
When Alex and her crew's lives are endangered, will she run away or stand up and fight?

WARNING: Contains graphic sexual scenes, violence, and crude language. Recommended ages +16.

Ah I love this novel! It had everything you would need in a story. Romance, spunk, hilarious sarcasm, action and some bad guys who just won't take no for an answer ;-)

I normally love it when the story isn't dragging and slow. But even though this novel was a bit slow in development. I was totally okay with it, because it gave off a realistic appeal, as real life takes time for things to form and for bonds to develop. And the way this author wrote it, just added to the enjoyment of this novel.

Even though the blurb kind of reveals where the story is headed. I love how I was still pretty much surprised in the development of the story.

The characters are pretty well developed and have really interesting characteristics. I like how Brooks is the parenting figure, but at the same time he acts like the rest of the crew, making a joke or sarcasm here and there. I also love Ollie. There are times where he is just adorable and funny and at times where I completely forget that he's just a kid. And when we first met him? Damn I was laughing like no tomorrow LOL!

Alex is one of those kick-ass, funny take no prisoner type of character. But at the same time she's pretty sweet and caring, especially to the people she has come to care about. But her most redeeming part, is her attitude and how she finds sarcasm in the strangest situation LOL.

Ethan... *sigh* At first I got carried away with Alex's dislike of him and started disliking him too. But as they spend more time together and Alex tries her hardest to hate him, I fell for him more and more. His not such a cocky jackass. His actually sweet, caring and protective about his crew. And when him and Alex finally get together...it's like yikes! It's like all that hidden chemistry just blows up! And Ethan shows readers exactly the kind of guy he is, which is. So. Damn. HOT!! His dominant, protective, caring, sweet and won't put up with Alex's confusion about their relationship because he knows they belong together and he'll prove to Alex and to everyone else exactly why that is.

I also love how the author starts and finishes off this novel. It's not rushed like 'oh there goes the main story so now it's over'. Not only does she explain how it came to be, but, she also answers some questions in the end. Wrapping it up in a nice little bow with a sexy Ethan...opps! I meant ending. ;-)
