Review: Dare You To (Pushing the Limits #2) by Katie McGarry

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits #2) by Katie McGarry

Goodreads Blurb

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all...

5 Stars!

Okay so I'm sure those who have read Katie's books have already figured out that she's an amazing author. Not only is she sweet and kind but she's a fantastic storyteller!

As I was reading this novel, It seemed that in almost every chapter I had tears in my eyes. Not because the story was so sad and devastating. But because the story showed so much emotion like an old friend coming up to me and telling me a magnificent love story of how they came to be.

The story shows a teenager by the name of Elisabeth 'Beth' Risk, who is trying to show the world an image of a strong and brave girl but underneath the surface, she's suffering to find a balance and happiness in her life after the hand she's been dealt with. But her life takes a drastic turn when her uncle comes out of nowhere and takes her away from everything she has ever known.

Ryan Stone is the type of guy you know. He's that guy who's popular, who is super hot and is obsess with sport. But he is also sweet, generous and kind. His keeping up an image of himself as the cool guy without a care in the world. But it's a lie, his family is barely hanging on and he's not sure what to do about it.

But as these two meet and get closer and closer to knowing each other. It gets tougher to keep the secrets at bay. They learn that all they need is to trust each other and be themselves. Ryan learns not to care about what others think and follows what he thinks is best for him, while Beth learns to take a chance and learn to trust again and finds that there are people out there who truly cares about her and that she doesn't need to handle the situation alone.

I pretty much devoured this novel in less than one day. It had all the right romance, hilariousness, drama and the right message to deliver one amazing storyline.

I have become a big fan of Katie's work and can't wait for book 3 and find out what else she has in store for us! :)
